“Doin’ la bamba” is a song by Pussycat. It was released as a single in 1980 and is taken from the LP Simply to be with you (1980). Both a 7″ single and a 12″ maxi single were released. Paul Natte was the arranger and Eddy Hilberts the producer. On the B-side of the single is the song On the corner of my life.
Both songs were written by Werner Theunissen. In 2012, the band’s lead singer, Toni Willé, released another version on a single as a solo singer.
The song is about dancing the bamba after a hard week of work in a Mexican village. The bamba is a Mexican dance that Ritchie Valens also sang about in his song La Bamba (1958).
