1963 – 1973
Tonny, Betty and Marianne Kowalczyk form Sweet Reaction
1973
The band records a single that isn’t very successful
1975
Sweet Reaction signs a record deal with Bovema and the band’s name is changed to Pussycat. They record a song called Mississippi and after it has been picked up by Dutch Dj’s it enters the Dutch charts and rockets to the number one spot. After the Netherlands, Mississippi tops the charts in countries such as Belgium, Germany, England, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Israel, Yugoslavia, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa and Brazil. Worldwide four million copies of the song are sold
1976
The singles Georgie and Smile become hits and the album First Of All enters the charts
1977
The single My Broken Souvenirs is released and becomes Pussycat second number one in the Netherlands. The album Souvenirs reaches the top 10
1978 – 1981
The band releases three albums and several singles, all of which do reasonably well.
1981
The guitarist, the drummer and the bassist leave the band, but the girls decide they will continue Pussycat
1983
The album After All is released, but isn’t very successful
1985
Due to a lack of success the band breaks up
1986 – 1999
The sisters start performing again under the name Anycat. But in 1999 they decide reform Pussycat again and work on new material
2001
The double CD 25 Jaar Na Mississippi (25 Years After Mississippi) is released and the band plays some gigs around the country. EMI is releases all the band’s albums on CD for the first time
2004
The Complete Collection is released, a box with 3 CD’s and a DVD with all the hits and some rarities. With the box there is a booklet with 40 pages. Also there is a Greatest Hits CD and is the DVD also alone available
2005
Pussycat made a song together with Major Dundee. This song also came out on single. Also there was a new DVD released Voor Alle Fans
2021
Lou Willé wrote together with Harm Peter Smilde a book about Pussycat De Mississippi Stroomt In Limburg (The Mississippi Flows In Limburg)
2024
On 28 June Betty Dragstra Veldpaus died at the age of 72
