” My Broken Souvenirs ” is a song by Pussycat. It is taken from their album Souvenirs. It was their fourth top 10 hit after Mississippi, Georgie and Smile. The song was again written by Werner Theunissen and was arranged by Paul Natte. The song appeared on their second LP Souvenirs (1977).
It did become a hit, but not thanks to record label Bovema. This promoted more Lay back in the arms of someone by Smokie instead of the domestic product. The boss of Bovema EMI corrected that and Pussycat eventually got a high ranking.
The song has a Danish cover by Grethe Ingmann under the title En lille souvenir (1977). Furthermore, a version of Die fidelen Limburger was released under the title My Broken Souvenirs – Shadows Are Falling on My Heart (1978). Pussycat also released a German version in 1977 on a single titled Abschiedssouvenir.
Mississippi and Smile did score in the United Kingdom, but that was it.
My broken souvenirs was an Alarm disc (Alamschijf) in 1977. Due to the partial intervention of EMI, it took first place here.
