” Roll on Sweet Mississippi ” is a song by Dobie Gray. He placed it on a single and his LP Hey Dixie in 1974. On the B-side of the single is the song The music’s real (Mentor’s song). Gray did not have any charts with the song.
The same year it was covered by the Dutch singer Oscar Benton. Benton had previously had three singles in the charts, but this one got stuck in Radio Veronica’s Tipparade.
For Pussycat it was one of the rare covers in 1983; most of their work was written by Werner Theunissen. On the B-side “I Can’t Get Over You”, a song that is written by Norbert Smidt and Toni Willé. Both songs were produced again by Eddy Hilberts. The song appeared on the penultimate single of the band and did not reach the charts.
