Land Zonder Drempels

Eddy Hilberts: “Bovema and Negram were going to jointly release an LP for charity called “Land Without Barriers.” The well-known artists of the two record companies would provide a track without personal financial interest and therefore only covers. For example, George Baker contributed “Send Me the Pillow,” and the Cats and BZN also had covers on this LP. Pussycat almost exclusively had pieces from their friend and guitar teacher Werner Theunissen… People thought a new piece by Werner wouldn’t fit on this LP, so Pussycat also had to come up with a cover. One was already there, “Boulevard de la Madeleine” (Moody Blues), and we still had to record one more. We had three pieces in mind: “Dancing in the Streets” (Martha & Vandellas), a Gladys Knight piece “Rainy Night in Georgia” (Tony is a fan of Gladys), and “The Same Old Song” (Four Tops). Since we had to do a cover, I thought this title fit best and pushed for it. That it would still become a single and make it into the charts, I had not expected!”
